A Suspected Carjacker Has Been Arrested In Lagos And Vehicle Recovered; Lagos State Police Authority.

Police in Lagos State have apprehended a suspected carjacker and recovered the vehicle.
According to Hauwa Idris Adamu, the spokesman for the Zone 2 Command HQ in Onikan, Lagos.

She explained that the arrest was made in response to information obtained by the zone on July 22nd, 2023.
“On July 22, 2023, at approximately 12:50 a.m., intel was received by AIG Zone 2, Muhammed Ali Ari, that along Fagba Abule Egba Area, one suspect Olamide Tailor and his friend Habeeb – now at large – stopped a Corolla Saloon car, ash in color, driven by an Uber driver, one Mr Gbadamosi Adewale.” “The suspect instructed the driver to drop them off at Fela’s Shrine in Ikeja,” according to the Saturday statement.

“As they were driving away, they ordered the driver to return to where he had picked them up, claiming that Habeeb had forgotten his phone at the hotel.” The Uber driver agreed.

“When the Uber driver came to a stop near where he picked them up, one of the suspects, Habeeb, who is now at large, came out of the car pretending to be on a call, then returned to the car and sat behind the driver.”

“At this point, he was holding ground pepper in his hand.” He then rubbed pepper to the victim’s eyes, causing him (the driver) to leap out of the car, yelling ‘thief thief,’ allowing Olamide Tailor to take over the car and drive away.

“As a result, upon receiving the information, the AIG, Ari Mohammed Ali (FCIA PCS), swung into action and dispatched a team of detectives from the monitoring unit, who immediately tracked the said car and apprehended one of the suspects, who is now providing useful information on the matter.”

“In the meantime, an investigation is underway.” At the conclusion of our investigation, the arrested suspect will be charged in a court of competent jurisdiction.”

As a result, the police are urging the general public, particularly commercial drivers, to always keep an eye out for suspicious passengers.
