Fake LASTMA officer arrested for vehicle towing

Adejumo has been detained for reportedly towing a car in Lagos while pretending to be a member of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority.

From a video that has been going viral on social media, PUNCH Metro learned that the suspect had drove a van with a LASTMA emblem on it and allegedly towed a car early on Monday in the Somolu neighborhood of Lagos.

Unknown woman who is most likely the owner of the black Acura MDX being towed can be heard complaining about how her car was taken utilizing a LASTMA van in the video.

She said that a pole was blocking the path of the vehicle being towed, and that the van’s driver fled after being alerted by concerned neighbors.

“I’ve never heard of a towing van being utilized to steal a vehicle. Thank God for my people’s awakening and yelling. The pole is a pillar of God; observe it. See how much God loves me. Government towing vehicles are LASTMA persons. a van for towing, actually. They ran as people continued to yell. “Look at their key; they fled and left it,” the woman replied.

The towing van was spotted in front of the towed vehicle, which was seen trapped behind the pole.

The van’s driver had been detained, according to a statement released Monday night by Adebayo Taofiq, Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment for LASTMA.

The towing vehicle’s driver was not a LASTMA representative, according to Adebayo. It is crucial to alert the general public, in especially the driving public, to the fact that the driver, Adejumo, has been detained and is currently being questioned at Pedro Police Station.

Investigations, according to his statement, showed that “the arrested towing van driver impersonated one of the LASTMA towing van operators with a fake identity card and fake LASTMA tow franchisee’s sticker.”

However, he said, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the general manager of LASTMA, urged the public to be on the lookout for dishonest individuals attempting to harm the agency’s reputation.
