Five suspects have been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on suspicion of “fraudulently” obtaining money from unwary members of the public by using forged letterheads from the Offices of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), and Minister of Justice.
Wilson Uwujaren, a spokesman for the EFCC, said in a statement on Monday that the suspects were taken into custody on August 24, 2023.
He named Yakubu Mohammed, Bashir Ladan, Adamu Ibrahim, Steven Anom, and Mohammed Bello as the suspects.
According to the EFCC, the suspects allegedly banded together and utilized the letterheads to create phony job and recommendation letters that they sold to unwary members of the public for a price.
As soon as the investigation is finished, the suspects will be charged in court, according to the anti-graft agency.
