This follows its collaboration with Verve, Africa’s largest domestic card scheme, to make digital transactions on the Google Play Store easier and more accessible to Nigerians.
As of today, Google announced that Nigerians can use their Verve cards to make purchases on the Google Play Store, thereby bolstering the country’s digital ecosystem.
The announcement comes as a relief to Nigerians purchasing apps from the Google Store at a time when banks in the country are struggling to meet forex requests from their clients in order to make foreign payments.
Google will process Verve transactions within Nigeria under this new agreement.
These transactions will be conducted in Nigerian naira (NG) and will be treated as domestic transactions by the country’s banking institutions.
As a result, any Nigerian with an Android device and a Verve card now has a simplified method for making Google Play Store purchases.
