The management of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has warned actors and filmmakers against exploiting its uniform and equipment for filming without permission.
The general manager of LASTMA, Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, expressed displeasure at the degrading portrayal of the institution in movies and skits and declared that going forward, offenders would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with Section 79 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law, which makes unauthorized use of the uniform a crime.
“Film or skit creators who portray as LASTMA Officer without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals, should desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the Law,” Oregba stated.
We request that the National Association of Nigerian Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other connected groups remind their members that anyone seen utilizing LASTMA uniform without a valid permit will face legal repercussions.
