Taye Agbaje, a man, is accused of murdering his younger brother’s two children in a jungle near Abeokuta, the state’s capital.
On Saturday, August 5, the man went to his brother’s house in Kemta Abata, Abeokuta, took the two girls there with him on his bike, and then killed them with a cutlass.
It was learned that Idowu Agbaje, the children’s father, who wasn’t home when Taye came to pick up the children, began looking for them when he got home in the evening.
He had informed neighbors when they reported seeing the two girls riding his brother’s motorcycle during the day.
Residents of Kemta Abata expressed outrage at the occurrence and noted that the culprit did not reside there.
Taye is currently in police custody, according to a community source who wished to remain anonymous.
“When Taye was questioned about the girls’ whereabouts, he denied knowing anything about it. Community members claimed to have seen him transporting the girls, but he claimed to have simply taken them to the market.
“He was brought to the Kemta police station, where he later admitted killing his nieces. Taye led the police to a thicket where he murdered his nieces.
“We all observed the bodies at the scene of the crime. The bodies have been transported to the mortuary by police. Taye just stated that the mother of the children had spiritually appropriated his glory for her husband, offering no further explanation for his actions. This is quite startling,” the narrator said.
Omolola Odutola, the public relations officer for the Ogun State Police, acknowledged the occurrence and called it puzzling.
Odutola said that while the suspect was being questioned by the police, he displayed no remorse and kept attributing the crime to satan.
“The suspect gave no specific justification for killing his brother’s children. There was no indication of regret at all. He is merely blaming Satan, and that is against the law, Odutola stated.
The police representative promised to provide additional information regarding the event shortly.
