Ifunanya Excel Grant Esq., a well-known young attorney, has been expelled by the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Aba section, for being a member.
When the NBA National Leadership filed charges of professional misconduct against Ifunanya for her infamous social media posts, she gained the moniker “baddest lawyer on social media” and became viral.

WRONG ASCRIPTION OF MEMBERSHIP OF ONE MISS IFUNANYA EXCEL GRANT TO NBA, ABA BRANCH.
Our attention has been drawn to print and social media reports of Nigerian Bar Association publications attributing membership to one Miss Ifunanya Excel Grant, popularly known as “the baddest lawyer” on social media. The NBA is currently petitioning the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee over complaints centered on her social media notoriety for posting pictures and videos of herself naked and smoking marijuana, to the Aba Branch of the NBA.
In the interest of clarity, we would like to say unequivocally that Miss Ifunanya Excel Grant is not a member of the NBA, Aba Branch, and that NBA, Aba Branch is not aware of her.
Because the Aba Branch members find the NBA’s misrepresentation to be unacceptable, we ask that the NBA correct its records.
We don’t think it’s intentional for Miss Ifunanya Grant’s membership to be wrongly attributed to Aba Branch in an effort to discredit Aba Branch and its members in front of the public.
While we fully support the NBA’s efforts to purge the legal profession of the few bad apples, we must implore the concerned officers to take painstaking measures to prevent law-abiding and innocent practitioners from unintentionally being painted in a negative light by the public.
