The Ondo State Government has announced plans to begin recruiting medical physicians and other health staff for all state-owned hospitals and primary health care centers.

Dr Banji Ajaka, the state Commissioner for Health, announced this on Friday while opening the Annual General Meeting and Scientific Conference of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Ondo State Chapter.

The focus of the conference was “Medicine and the Future Economy: The Ondo State Doctor.”

According to Ajaka, the Ondo State Government is addressing brain drain in the health sector.

The official, who acknowledged that brain drain was not unique to Ondo State, stated that the state was addressing it due to its ability to generate medical professionals and other medical staff.

“The government has given permission for more doctors and other health workers to be hired.”

“I can tell you that we are hiring for primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care.” It is enormous.

“We are hiring across all cadres.”

“If there are 10 doctors who can staff a hospital, we would place the optimal number of doctors in that hospital.” We’re aiming for the best. “We’re not just recruiting for the sake of recruiting,” he explained.

The NMA Chairman, Ondo State Chapter, Dr Omosehin Adeyemi-Osowe, praised members of the association for their perseverance and commitment to rescuing the health sector in the face of adversity in his welcome address.

Adeyemi-Osowe praised the members of the association for their contributions and expertise in the growth of medical science and the betterment of healthcare services.

“This year has been especially difficult for the medical community, as we have navigated unprecedented times, facing numerous obstacles and uncertainties.”
