Issa Muhammed, a 22-year-old car wash employee in Lagos who works for the Police Rapid Response Squad (RRS), has been detained for allegedly stealing a customer’s car.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos, the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest.

According to Hundeyin, the culprit was apprehended after he stole a 2012 Toyota Camry that had been given to him for cleaning in the Isheri neighborhood of Lagos.

“The suspect was arrested on Sunday in the Agege area of Lagos State where he parked the car to link up with a buyer,” the source added.

The image-maker said that the suspect absconded with the car three days after his employment.

According to preliminary inquiries, the owner gave the suspect the car three hours earlier in anticipation of a family outing later that day.

“Muhammed, who was working at the car wash three days prior to the incident, immediately removed the number plate of the car and discarded all identities linking the car to its owner,” Hundeyin said.

He claims that following an investigation, the case will be brought before the court.
