Kano state Police Commissioner Muhammad Husain Gumel has declared three known thugs sought, promising a reward of N100,000 to anyone who brings any of them in seven days beginning Wednesday, August 3rd, 2023.
On Wednesday, the Commissioner made the proclamation while speaking at the opening ceremony of a friendly football match between the Police Command and repentant youngsters in Kano.
Gumel claimed that he declared them wanted after they refused to cooperate and come out for talk with the police, despite the fact that 99 thugs turned there while only 30 were invited by the Police Command.
He stated that three known thugs, namely Barakata of Dorayi Quarters, Hantar Daba, and Chile Mai Doki of Tudun Fulani Quarters, had proven storbon by refusing to surrender their weapons to police and repent.
“The Police Command and YOSPIS organized this football match to promote peace and welcome back youths who have strayed into delinquency.”
“We have made efforts to make Kano crime-free by using dialogue and peaceful approaches to encourage youths to avoid bad things such as drug abuse, phone snatching, thuggery, and other crimes associated with them.”
“We invited 30 of them to the Command, but to our great surprise, 99 of them showed up and agreed to refrain from bad deeds while also submitting their weapons.”
“There are three notorious ones, Barakata of Dorayi Quarters, Hantar Daba, and Chile Mai Doki of Tudun Fulani, who we have made every effort to invite but have refused to show up.” I now declare them wanted. Anyone who brings any of them will be given N100,000 in the spirit of community policing. This money will be coming from my own pocket.
“They will take home N300,000 from me if the communities bring these wanted thugs in the spirit of community policing,” the CP says.
He added that the state government has put in place a lot of packages for the the youths to compliment the efforts of the police in the state.
