A 31-year-old unemployed man named Lawal Rasaq was remanded on Friday by an Ikorodu Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly kidnapping and defiling a teenage girl.
The defendant, whose address was omitted, is accused of defiling a minor and kidnapping a minor on two counts.
According to the prosecution, Mrs. Olawunmi Osibanjo, Rasaq committed the crimes on Ireshe Road in Alagbonmeta, Ikorodu, between July 29 and August 8.
According to Osibanjo, Rasaq kidnapped the 17-year-old and brought her to his home in violation of Sections 268 and 137 of the Lagos State Criminal Law from 2015.
The defendant was ordered to be remanded at the Kirikiri correctional facility by Chief Magistrate Mrs. A.B. Olagbegi-Adelabu after she refused to accept the defendant’s plea.
She gave the directive to forward the case file to the state director of public prosecutions for review and guidance.
The case was postponed to September 7 for mention by Olagbegi-Adelabu.
